Math Rush

A mental maths game played on your TV, with your phone as the controller.

  • Solo or up to 8
  • Single player and multiplayer
  • Plays in the browser

Math Rush is a mental arithmetic contest for one to eight players. Sums appear on the big screen and everyone answers on their phone. Two right answers in a row let you freeze a rival for a sum, and a closest-guess final keeps the result open to the end.

How to play Math Rush

  1. Each round has five sums with ten seconds each: two adding or subtracting, two multiplying or dividing, and one two-step sum.
  2. Tap the right answer out of four. A right answer scores 1,000 points, plus up to 300 for speed in the first five seconds (none under one second) and up to 300 for a streak. If you are the only one right, you get 200 more.
  3. With two or more players, two right answers in a row earn a freeze. Use it after a sum to lock a rival's buttons for the next sum (never the final). Nobody can be frozen two sums in a row.
  4. The final is a big sum with fifteen seconds to type a guess. The closest guess scores 1,500, anyone else within 10% scores 500, and an exact answer earns 500 more.

Controls

Four answer buttons, a row of rivals to freeze when you have earned a freeze, and a number pad for the final.

Tips

  • The four answers are evenly spaced, so work the sum out instead of guessing from the shape of the numbers.
  • Freeze the player in the lead: it costs them a whole sum.
  • In the final, round the numbers and work it out roughly. Close is good enough.
