Turbo Circuit

A 3D racing game played on your TV, with your phone as the controller.

Turbo Circuit is a top-down 3D racing game you play in the browser. The race runs on your TV or laptop, and every driver steers with a thumb stick on their own phone. Up to eight friends race each other at once, with item boxes, oil, pucks, drifting and a tornado on the track. When you play alone, three computer drivers join the grid.

How to play Turbo Circuit

  1. Three red lights come on, then all turn green. Push the stick just as they turn green for a rocket start; push too early and your wheels spin for a moment.
  2. The car drives flat out by itself. Point the stick where you want it to go. Let go to coast, or pull the stick backwards to brake. Grass slows you down.
  3. Corners have grip. Take one too fast and the car slides. A slide on the tarmac charges a boost that fires when you straighten up, and a longer slide gives a bigger boost.
  4. Drive through a ? box to get an item: Turbo, Mega Turbo, Oil, Puck or Shield. The further you are behind the leader, the better the item. Oil dropped behind you spins the next car, a Puck chases the car in front, and a Shield blocks the next hit for 8 seconds.
  5. Green arrow pads give a short boost. Oil on the outside of two fast bends makes you slide, and from lap 2 a tornado wanders along the track and spins anyone it catches. A hard hit on a car's side spins it.
  6. The race is six laps, about a minute for a good driver. Once the first player finishes, everyone else has up to 10 seconds to cross the line. Finished players can drop oil in front of anyone still racing, or cheer them on with a boost. Points are given by finishing position.

Controls

A thumb stick to steer and one button to use your item. The car accelerates by itself. Turn the phone sideways to hold it like a gamepad.

Tips

  • Let go of the stick before the hairpin, or slide through it on purpose to earn a boost.
  • Keep a Shield or Oil while you are leading; use a Puck when someone is just ahead of you.
  • Sit right behind another car on a straight for a tow, then pull out and pass.

Start Turbo Circuit in three steps

  1. Open ourconsole.in on a TV or laptop and press Host a game.
  2. Connect each phone to the same WiFi and scan the QR code on the screen.
  3. The first player picks Turbo Circuit from the menu on their phone.
