Memory Code

A memory game played on your TV, with your phone as the controller.

Memory Code is a colour-sequence memory game for one to eight players. The big screen flashes a sequence of four colours, then everyone repeats it on their phone. The sequence gets one colour longer every level until only one player still remembers it. Players who slip become ghosts and flash fake colours to trip up the rest.

How to play Memory Code

  1. Watch the big screen while the colours flash and each one plays its own note.
  2. Repeat the sequence on the four pads on your phone before your time runs out. The big screen shows everyone filling in their dots.
  3. One wrong colour and you are out. The sequence starts at three colours, grows by one each level and flashes faster from seven colours on.
  4. Out players become ghosts. Once per level a ghost taps a pad to flash a fake colour on the big screen. Fakes are shorter, sound different and carry the ghost. Every player who goes out by tapping a fake colour at the point where it flashed gives that ghost a star.
  5. The last player standing wins. If the last players all slip on the same level, more taps right places higher, then the quicker player. Everyone else is placed by stars: one for each level cleared and one for each player fooled as a ghost.

Controls

Four large coloured pads on your phone, each with its own shape, in the same positions as on the big screen.

Tips

  • Say the colours to yourself as a rhythm, or follow the notes; a tune is easier to keep than a picture.
  • Watch for the ghost face: a fake flash is shorter and its note slides down.
  • As a ghost, flash your fake in the middle of the sequence, on a colour that does not come next.
  • Speed only breaks ties, so never rush into a wrong colour.

Start Memory Code in three steps

  1. Open ourconsole.in on a TV or laptop and press Host a game.
  2. Connect each phone to the same WiFi and scan the QR code on the screen.
  3. The first player picks Memory Code from the menu on their phone.
